So, you’ve booked your kayak with Patagonia Adventure — now it’s time to get ready for a full day of fresh air, sunshine, and good vibes on the lake. Whether you're heading to Jordanelle, Rockport, or Deer Creek, here's your ultimate packing list to make the most of your adventure.
👕 1. Clothing Essentials
Kayaking is more fun when you’re dressed for it.Here’s what to wear:
Quick-dry or athletic clothes — avoid cotton if possible
Hat & sunglasses — the sun reflects strongly off the water
Water shoes or sandals — something that won’t slip off and can get wet
💡 Pro tip: Always bring a light layer — even in summer, mornings on the lake can be crisp.
🧴 2. Safety First
Your safety and comfort are top priorities. Don’t forget:
Sunscreen (reef-safe is even better!)
Life jacket — included with every Patagonia Adventure rental
Waterproof phone case or pouch — just in case
And of course, bring plenty of water to stay hydrated while paddling.
🎶 3. For the Vibes
Want to turn your paddle into a mini floating party or peaceful escape? Bring:
A small Bluetooth speaker (keep volume low & respect others)
Picnic snacks or even a small cooler
A great playlist or waterproof book for when you just want to float
🧺 Many of our clients love packing a simple lakeside lunch and drifting while they eat.
🎒 4. Optional Extras
These aren’t must-haves, but they definitely make your day smoother:
Towel & change of clothes for after paddling
Dry bag for keeping things like keys and snacks safe
GoPro or waterproof camera — the views are too good not to capture!
🚫 5. What NOT to Bring
Let’s keep the lake clean and your stuff safe:
❌ Expensive valuables (unless secure and waterproof)
❌ Glass bottles
❌ Single-use plastic trash
❌ Drones (unless you’ve checked lake-specific rules)
